There's plenty of room for clothes and gear in the large main compartment, which offers top and bottom access. You can also store smaller gear in the variety of accessory pockets, which include one front zippered pocket, two large side zippered pockets, and a top lid pocket for items like a compass, maps, or raingear. And the bag easily accommodates a sleeping bag and pad via the sleeping bag compartment, which includes a detachable divider, and the extra straps on the exterior.

Most importantly for serious trekkers, the pack is comfortable and supportive, with a heavily padded back panel, an adjustable torso length, and padded shoulder straps, waist straps, and chest straps to stabilize the load. Other features include front tightening straps with square buckles for holding water bottles or accessories; side compression straps with buckles to help distribute the load evenly; and D-rings on the shoulder straps for hanging accessories.

The large compartment does not have a zipper. If going abroad, this bag has to be checked on the plane, leaving all your stuff unprotected. Buy it only if you plan not to fly with it.

I am very pleased with this backpack. It will hold more than I can comfortably carry. It appears sturdy and versatile to me.

My uncle, who is ex-military was impressed with what he saw of the bag. He helped me pack it so that it would be most effective for my needs.

Don't worry about your height or female pack versus non-female pack. This bag allows for adjustments in height and is comfortable.

Purchased this at the last minute for a Boy Scout 50 mile hike. I'd purchased two for my sons a month earlier then got roped into going along with hike. Since I'd seen the quality & speed of delivery I quickly placed an order for this as well. In prior reviews people ripped this about zippers and buckles. I found if I pulled the fabric together on either side the zippers were fine & pretty strong. Only once did the belt buckle unclip, but for 50 miles of rough & wet terrain I thought that was pretty good. My only issue was the weight of the bag. Compared to some of the others packs on the hike, empty this one seems pretty heavy.
