"Good Bag, Zipper Issues" 2010-07-29By
Asa (Tokyo)
Bought this bag a year ago for the same 70% discount currently listed. Glad I did not pay more.
Pros: It is a handsome bag, and the internal pocket layout is great. The pockets are lined with a soft synthetic material. The outer large pocket expands to hold a pair of shoes and a rolled up shirt. Feels very comfortable on my back even fully loaded.
Cons: very quickly, the waterproof coating on the zippers, a kind of vinyl tape started wearing off. It comes loose from the zipper and then tears off, leaving behind a white dusty film that is hard to remove. One of the zipper pulls on the main compartment broke recently.
Fine bag at deep discount, but don't pay full price for this one.
"best backpack I've ever used" 2010-06-17By
B. Graves (Midwest, USA)
The Mountainsmith Market St. Urban Pack fits me perfectly. I'm the kind of person who, when he has a backpack, loads it down with all sorts of things -- be prepared for anything, right? When that happens, though, backpacks become unwieldy and cumbersome because of their design (ie- the big opening, the middle opening and the smallest opening jut out way too far when they're full, thus they alter one's center of gravity too much).
In contrast to that typical design, this pack takes all of that space, all of that room for my random additions, and keeps them inside the spacious main opening. Even when this pack was very full, everything was kept so close to my back that it remained a much more comfortable fit than I'd ever had before.
Without a doubt this pack has surpassed all my expectations, and you're missing out not having one yet.
"Great work daypack for gadget loving people" 2010-04-12By

I bought this backpack just for 29u$s as a secondary everyday pack to carry my laptop.
After I got it this turned into my main work backpack, first the materials are really tough ( water repellent YKK zippers, Hard fabrics, and great padding both on the back (full back and lower back are padded) and on the straps.
Main zipper has a nice laptop pouch (fits my Lenovo thinkpad T60 with 12 cell battery) and then 5 pockets (Velcro closing) that are just great for chargers, small photo/video cameras (a DSLR or Bridge cameras won't but it will fit a canon G11 or a normal Sony handy cam will do just fine), screw driver kits, cables, has a nice small pocket for memory cards/usb drivers that is closed by a zipper and a business card holder that could work as a small cellphone holder also. a thin raincoat or jacked will fit just fine if folded into the main zipper area but remember it's a work day pack so its not oriented to carry lots of bulky items.
Secondary zipper can hold 1 book and charger + lock cable for my laptop and it has some free space. (this zipper is also water resistant)
Outside cellphone/glasses/wallet pocket, also comes withs a water resistant zipper. if you got big sun glasses those might bee a tight fit but metal frame slim ones will do just fine. i can put my wallet ( leather trifold with 9 credit/membership/ID cards + coins + 10 or 20 mixed dollar bills) inside the pocket + and my iPhone and still get some free space for keys.
I gave it 4 stars since it could have a rubber bottom so you could put it in the subway/bus floor with out minding what kind off liquid is there. also a light padded waist belt would be a nice thing to have.
I just got this back pack last week so if I find any problems with it I will update this review.
Please comment if you want to ask something about the backpack.
"Stylish bag with all the right pockets" 2009-12-03By
R. CheethamI tested several bags before going back to this one. I've had the brown version of the Mountainsmith Market St for 2 years. I'd really liked its organization and professional look, but the zipper tabs broke fairly quickly. The black one is organized the same way, but so far (2 months) has proven to be well-made with high quality materials and all the right features.
