DaKine Snow Sport Backpack
Based in Hood River, Oregon, DAKINE was founded in Maui, Hawai'i in 1979 by longtime surfer, Rob Kaplan. DAKINE'S first product, a revolutionary new surf leash, quickly gained worldwide popularity. This first leash led to more surfing related products, built to withstand the punishing conditions of the surf on the north shore of Hawai'i. In Hawaiian slang, "Da Kine" means the best and the company has lived up to this standard through attention to detail, focus on accessories, and a notoriously thorough design process.

With its reputation for top quality products and attention to detail, DAKINE quickly grew beyond its surfing roots and has become the standard in board sports accessories for the top athletes in the worlds of snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, mountain biking, windsurfing, and kiteboarding, as well as surfing.

To better serve the growing worldwide demand for DAKINE product, a factory and distribution center were opened in Hood River, Oregon in 1986 and the facility soon replaced operations on Maui's north shore to become the principal factory and point of distribution. DAKINE's Oregon location, in the heart of the Gorge and the base of Mount Hood--a hot spot with North American windsurfers and snowboarders--also helps the company maintain its competitive edge by giving the product development team a demanding new environment for developing and testing products. A testament to the standards and success of DAKINE product, the pro team roster reads like a who's-who of action sports.

Today, DAKINE offers a complete range of innovative products, including sport-specific and street-savvy backpacks, bags, travel gear, and accessories as well as a fashionable girl's bag collection. The company remains focused on building durable, innovative products of the best quality for the most demanding action sports athletes. The original quest led by a group of dedicated surfers has taken on a life of its own and has spread throughout all board sports. For 30 years, this passion has given DAKINE its longevity in the action sports industry and has personified its reputation for excellence.

 "I'm 6' 0" - This pack is way too small." 2010-06-22
By J. Labiak (Lancaster, PA)
This is a GREAT pack, no doubt about that. But tall guys beware, this pack is intended for the use of men 5' 7" and smaller.... I'm a tad over 6' and it does feel a tad awkward at times... But nonetheless, besides the awkward fitting, this pack is great.

"Well built Multi purpose bagpack" 2010-05-28
By Vijay Srinivasan (Holland, MI, US)
I must say this bag was a total surprise to me. It looks great, a lot of pockets, multi functional, easy to carry around and fits well around the waist. The quality is too good, zips are also of great quality. The only slight problem i had with it was that the bag itself is a little heavy, which was ok for me. I dont see any other negative point in it. Would whole heartedly recommend this for people who go on frequent travel, hiking etc..Great for women too.

"Awesome Backpack for Women/Girls - great for skiing" 2010-04-03
By elliesha m (seattle)
I don't know why this pack is listed as a men's pack when it's not gender specific on any other websites. This may limit who purchases the backpack. I'm female and use this backpack while downhill skiing. I was surprised when I received it because it has so many bonuses: retractable straps to hold my skis, waterproof pouch for my camera, pocket for hydration pouch, long, easily adjustable straps, waist strap... oh, the list goes on. I use it for extra clothing, goggles, water, small camera and snacks. What I love about this backpack is the internal pocket for the hydration pouch. I have the platypus zip top 2 liter reservoir, but I don't fill it up all the way. The tube to the reservoir is insulated by going through an internal slot down the side of the backpack. This helps to keep the tube from freezing in colder temperatures. I love the convenience of having plenty of water to drink while skiing and,it's easily assessible with this backpack. I would say this is a medium backpack size. I found out the Dakine Heli Pro DLX backpack has an insulated waterproof pouch for your camera and the Dakine Heli Pro (no DLX) does not. Other than that the two backpacks are similar. I'm looking forward to using this backpack for day hikes this summer.

 "great pack" 2010-03-29
By Brrrnt (Falling Waters, WV)
this pack is great. I did not use it to hike, but carried it at a ski resort. plenty of room for everything. I carried my DSLR with telephoto lens in it, and other necesseties for the day. great great bag. I would say the carry feature for the skis is cool, and 2 options for a board, vertical or horizontal.
